This study investigates Parkinson's disease and related types of Parkinsonism in Canada. The purpose is to gather data to help researchers understand these conditions better. Participants will be involved for at least three years. People in the study will complete online questionnaires and have one in-person visit. During the visit, they will answer questions about their medical history and lifestyle, and they will undergo cognitive and motor assessments. Participants may also choose to donate a blood sample during this visit.
Participants will join the C-OPN Database, Biobank, and Registry. The C-OPN Database involves answering questions about personal and medical history, either online or with a coordinator. The Biobank allows participants to donate a blood sample for research, which is stored securely. The Registry sends participants notifications about future research studies. Follow-up involves completing two questionnaires every 18 months, either online or by phone, with no additional in-person visits.
- Who can participate: People of any age living in Canada near a C-OPN Site can participate. Eligible participants include those diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, Atypical Parkinsonism, or as a 'Healthy Control'.
