This study explores a new medicine, asimadoline, to help with vasomotor symptoms (VMS), which are hot flashes often experienced during menopause. The study is a Phase 2a trial, meaning it tests both the safety and effectiveness of the medicine. Women aged 40-62 with moderate to severe VMS can join. In the trial, participants will first record their symptoms for 2 weeks. Then, for 8 weeks, they will receive either asimadoline or a placebo, which is a harmless pill that doesn't affect the body, without knowing which one they receive (double-blind). After that, all participants will take asimadoline openly for 4 weeks.
- The trial lasts 14 weeks, including the initial symptom recording and follow-up periods.
- Participants should not use certain medications or therapies before and during the study.
- Eligibility requires good health and no severe medical issues like high blood pressure or cancer.
