This research is called the PIVATAL Study, which looks at a heart problem called ventricular arrhythmia (VTA) in people who have a left ventricular assist device (LVAD). VTA is when your heart beats irregularly, and an LVAD is a machine that helps your heart pump blood. The study will see if fixing VTA during LVAD surgery (implant) can help reduce these irregular heartbeats later on.
The study will involve 100 people who need an LVAD and have had VTA before. Some will get a procedure called ablation during surgery to treat VTA, while others will get regular medicine. The study will last about 18 months, and doctors will keep track of any health problems, hospital visits, and other treatments needed.
- The study lasts about 18 months with regular check-ups.
- Participants may undergo an extra procedure during LVAD surgery.
- Researchers will monitor health closely, including heart tests and hospital visits.
