Phase 2

This study looks at how inflammation might affect depression by using a medicine called **baricitinib**. Baricitinib works by blocking a part of the inflammation process called **Janus kinase (JAK) signaling**. People with depression and high inflammation, found through a blood test, can join. They need to stop antidepressants for at least 4 weeks before starting. The study lasts 8 weeks and includes 8-9 visits over 2-3 months. Participants will either get baricitinib or a placebo (a fake pill) to see if it helps their motivation and movement. Brain scans and other tests will check the results.

  • Duration: 8 weeks with 8-9 visits over 2-3 months.
  • Treatment: Randomly assigned baricitinib or placebo.
  • Eligibility: Adults 25-55 with depression and high inflammation; must stop certain medications before joining.
