This is a research study about Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a disease that affects the muscles used for movement, eating, and breathing. The study will test a drug called Usnoflast to see if it helps people with ALS. In the first part, participants will be randomly assigned to get either Usnoflast or a placebo (a pill with no medicine) for 36 weeks. Neither the participants nor the researchers will know who gets the real drug. After this, everyone can take Usnoflast for 16 more weeks.
- The main study lasts 36 weeks, followed by a 16-week extension.
- Participants must visit multiple sites for tests and monitoring.
- Volunteers must be able to swallow pills and follow study procedures.
To join, you need a recent diagnosis of ALS and must not have any major health issues that could interfere with the study. It's important to understand the risks and benefits before deciding to participate. The study will help researchers learn more about treating ALS, but it might not directly help you. There might be some risks involved, and only some expenses might be covered. It's important to discuss with your doctor and family before joining.
