Constipation is a common issue affecting many people in the U.S. A condition called pelvic floor dyssynergia often contributes to constipation, but its exact causes are not clear. This study uses a new device called Fecobionics to understand how the muscles around the anus and rectum work in people with this condition. Fecobionics is a small, balloon-like tool that is inserted into the rectum to gather information during a bowel movement. The goal is to see if biofeedback therapy, a treatment to help control these muscles, will work for certain patients. Three key points to consider are:
- Study Length: Participation involves multiple visits during the therapy process.
- Procedure: The Fecobionics device is inserted into the rectum to collect data.
- Eligibility: Participants must be aged 21-75 and not have certain conditions like recent surgeries or severe heart disease.
This study is for those who are eligible and interested in finding out if biofeedback therapy might help their constipation linked to dyssynergia.
