Sisters for Heart Health is a study focused on improving heart health in farmworker women aged 18-50 years, living in rural areas. It uses a Community Health Worker (CHW)-led program to provide support and guidance on accessing healthcare, improving social connections, and managing stress. Cardiometabolic health refers to conditions like heart disease and diabetes, which the study aims to improve using the American Heart Association's Life's Essential 8 (LE8) score. This study will check if encouraging social support and providing healthcare information can lower stress and improve heart health among participants.
- Duration: Participants need to be in the area for at least 6 months.
- Target Group: Female farmworkers aged 18-50 who speak Spanish or English.
- Exclusions: Pregnant or breastfeeding women, or those with certain cognitive impairments cannot join.
This study helps women who are often overlooked in healthcare efforts. It seeks to reduce heart disease risks by using peer support and community resources. Participants will work with trained health workers to navigate health systems and improve their well-being.
