Phase N/A
This study is about helping people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) improve their balance and reduce falls. *Multiple Sclerosis* is a disease where the immune system attacks the brain and spinal cord. Participants will be exposed to "perturbations," which are unexpected movements like slips or trips, to help their bodies learn how to react better and prevent falls. *Perturbation training* helps the central nervous system (CNS), which controls most of the body and mind, learn new skills to stay balanced. **Key Points:** - The study lasts six months and involves several sessions where participants will walk on a treadmill and experience slips and trips. - Participants are split into two groups: one group gets training with perturbations and the other walks without them for comparison. - Participants need to be 45 or older, able to walk at least 25 feet, and stand independently for 30 seconds. This study is important because if successful, it could lead to new methods for preventing falls in people with MS. Participants will have their fall responses measured and monitored for effectiveness.

Learn more about clinical trials

What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a study designed to test specific interventions or treatments' effectiveness and safety, paving the way for new, innovative healthcare solutions.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?

Clinical trials follow strict ethical guidelines and protocols to safeguard participants' health. They are closely monitored and safety reviewed regularly.
