Study Purpose: This study tests if fusidic acid 1% works better than a placebo (fake treatment) for treating bacterial conjunctivitis, which is an eye infection. It also checks if fusidic acid 1% is safe to use.
Who Can Join? You can join if you have signs of bacterial conjunctivitis, like pus in at least one eye, and haven't used any eye medicine in the past 14 days. You should not be pregnant or breastfeeding and must agree to stop using eye makeup and contact lenses during the study. You also need to show a negative test for viral conjunctivitis.
Who Can't Join? You cannot join if you've had eye infections caused by fungus, protozoa, or virus in the last 30 days, or if your symptoms started more than 48 hours ago. You also can't join if you need other eye medications, have certain eye problems, or are allergic to the study drugs.
- The study requires you to stop using eye makeup and contact lenses.
- You must be available for study visits and follow instructions carefully.
- Participation is voluntary, and you must give informed consent.
