This study looks at how doctors and nurses help prevent blood clots, called **venous thromboembolism (VTE)**, after surgeries for cancer in the belly area. It's part of the NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP). The study checks if doctors follow guidelines for **extended venous thromboembolism prophylaxis (ePPx)**, which means giving medicines for a longer time to stop clots. It also explores challenges doctors face and how computer tools might help.
The study has three parts: Part 1: Doctors and nurse practitioners fill out surveys about their practices. Part 2: Some doctors and nurse practitioners do interviews to talk about problems and solutions. Part 3: Experts check patients' records to see if the prevention steps are being used and how easy it is to track this information.
- Participation involves surveys and interviews, no treatments.
- It helps improve guidelines for preventing blood clots after surgery.
- No medical risks are involved, only sharing information.
