A Study of a Thyroid Hormone Receptor Beta Isoform (THRβ) Agonist and an Semicarbazide Sensitive Amine Oxidase (SSAO) Inhibitor, Alone and in Combination, in Adults With Presumed Metabolic Dysfunction-associated Steatohepatitis (MASH)

Exploring treatments for liver health in adults with MASH.

Phase 2

This study tests two treatments for MASH, a liver disease. MASH stands for Metabolic Dysfunction-associated Steatohepatitis, which is a type of liver inflammation caused by fat buildup. The two treatments are ECC4703, a thyroid hormone receptor (THRβ) agonist, and ECC0509, a Semicarbazide Sensitive Amine Oxidase (SSAO) inhibitor. The treatments are given alone or together to see their effect on liver fat using an MRI scan.

  • The study lasts for 12 weeks and involves multiple visits for MRI scans and check-ups.
  • Participants must be aged 18-75 and meet specific health criteria, including stable liver and kidney function.
  • Exclusion includes other liver diseases, severe thyroid problems, uncontrolled diabetes, or recent serious health issues.

Participants should be comfortable with medical procedures and willing to follow specific health guidelines. This study helps researchers understand how these treatments work on liver fat, potentially helping future patients with MASH.

Learn more about clinical trials

What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a study designed to test specific interventions or treatments' effectiveness and safety, paving the way for new, innovative healthcare solutions.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?

Clinical trials follow strict ethical guidelines and protocols to safeguard participants' health. They are closely monitored and safety reviewed regularly.
