This study is about helping older adults and their caregivers be more active before and after lung cancer surgery. There are two groups: one gets telephone-based coaching, and the other gets written materials about physical activity. Physical activity means moving your body, like walking or exercising. The goal is to see if these activities help people recover better after surgery. Participants will wear an activity monitor to track their movements. The main measure is the 6-minute walk test (6MWT), which shows how far someone can walk in six minutes. The study will check this at 30, 60, and 180 days after leaving the hospital. Caregivers will also participate by helping and reporting on their experience.
- Participants need to be 65 or older and have lung cancer surgery planned.
- The study includes five coaching calls for the telephone group.
- Participants will be checked 60 and 180 days after their surgery.
