Phase 2

This study is for adults with a liver condition called compensated cirrhosis due to Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH). Cirrhosis means the liver is damaged, but it can still do its job. The study wants to see if a new medicine, BI 3802876, is safe to use and how it works in the body. People will be randomly placed into groups to get different doses of BI 3802876 or a placebo, which looks like the medicine but has no effect.

Participants will be in the study for about half a year and will visit the study site 12 times. They will receive the medicine through a needle in the vein at 2 visits. The doctors will monitor their health and collect blood samples to study how the medicine is processed by the body.

  • Study duration is about 6 months with 12 visits.
  • Participants receive medicine through an infusion.
  • Chance of getting real medicine is higher than getting a placebo.
