This study is testing a drug called larsucosterol to see if it's safe and works well for people with a liver problem caused by drinking too much alcohol. This problem is called alcohol-associated hepatitis (AH). The study looks at how well people do without needing a liver transplant for three months after starting the treatment. For someone to join the study, they need to have this liver problem and meet certain health conditions. Some key tests include checking the Maddrey Discriminant Function (MDF) score and the Model for End-stage Liver Disease (MELD) score, which help doctors understand how bad the liver problem is.
- The study lasts for 90 days, and participants need to agree to not drink alcohol and follow birth control guidelines.
- Participants must not have certain infections or other severe health problems.
- People in the study might be required to go to the hospital, and there are specific rules to be eligible.
