Study Summary: This research tests a new way to deliver a treatment called GCase for Parkinson's Disease (PD) using a tool called MR-guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS). PD is a brain disorder that causes shaking, stiffness, and difficulty with walking and balance. In this study, GCase is delivered directly to a part of the brain called the putamen. This can help improve symptoms shown in animal studies.
The study has two groups: one with patients having a specific genetic marker (GBA mutation) and another with idiopathic PD (cause unknown). Each group will have 7 patients. The first 4 patients in each group receive a lower dose of GCase, and the next 3 receive a higher dose. Treatments are given every two weeks for a total of three sessions.
Key Points:
- The study lasts for about 12 months, including follow-up after treatment.
- Participants must be willing to undergo MRgFUS treatment and follow-up visits.
- Eligibility requires specific health conditions, and certain medical issues prevent participation.
