Phase N/A

This study examines if Improvised Active Music Therapy (IAMT) can help predict the progression of Parkinson's Disease (PD). Participants will play music, and their performance will be linked to changes in their movement and thinking skills. The study aims to build a database to help understand if IAMT can predict if PD will develop into more serious conditions like Parkinson's Disease Dementia (PDD) or Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB). The study will include 25 adults with PD and 25 healthy adults, all over age 50. The sessions are held at the Conrad Institute for Music Therapy Research and use special equipment to gather data. After music sessions, participants will discuss their experiences to provide additional insights.

  • Study involves one 30-minute music therapy session and a 15-minute discussion.
  • Participants will need to visit the Conrad Institute for Music Therapy Research.
  • Potential risks include discomfort from playing music, but no serious risks are expected.
