Exercise Neuroprotection in Parkinson's Disease

Participate in a Parkinson's exercise study for potential neuroprotection benefits.

Phase N/A

This study looks at how exercise impacts inflammation in older adults and people with Parkinson's Disease (PD). In PD, the brain cells die due to a problem called neuroinflammation, which is linked to inflammation in the body. Exercise might help slow down this cell death, acting as a form of neuroprotection to protect brain cells. This research could help understand how exercise reduces inflammation and improves symptoms in PD, making it an important therapy.

Parkinson's is a brain disease that makes movement difficult. It can progress over time, causing more symptoms. Exercise may help by reducing inflammation and protecting brain cells. The study will check if exercise changes the levels of certain chemicals in the body that cause inflammation and damage. These chemicals include cytokines, antioxidant enzymes, and neurotrophins, which may protect and repair brain cells.

  • Participation includes 30 minutes of aerobic exercise at different intensities.
  • Participants must be 30-85 years old and able to exercise with short breaks.
  • Excludes those with severe health issues that prevent safe exercise.

Learn more about clinical trials

What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a study designed to test specific interventions or treatments' effectiveness and safety, paving the way for new, innovative healthcare solutions.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?

Clinical trials follow strict ethical guidelines and protocols to safeguard participants' health. They are closely monitored and safety reviewed regularly.
