This study focuses on Parkinson’s disease (PD) and how the Superior Cervical Ganglion (SCG) might help in treatment. The SCG is a group of nerve cells in the neck. In PD, nerve cells in the brain slowly die, causing problems with movement. Researchers are trying to find out if using the SCG can help replace these lost nerve cells.
Participants will undergo several evaluations:
- Visit 1: Meet the study team and sign consent forms.
- Visit 2: A neurologist will check if you qualify by evaluating your movement and mental state.
- Visit 3: MRI scans to picture your brain and neck.
- Visit 4: PET-CT scan using a special substance (68Ga-PSMA) to see how your SCG and brain are working.
If you have PD and meet certain criteria, you can join. You cannot participate if you have other specific neurological conditions or certain medical histories. This study is a step toward finding new treatments for PD.
- The study involves multiple visits with different tests.
- Participants must have Parkinson’s disease as per set criteria.
- Exclusion applies to those with certain neurological disorders.
