All
Phase N/A

This study is for patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) and impulse control disorder (ICD), which includes behaviors like gambling or excessive shopping. PD is a brain disorder affecting movement, while ICD involves difficulty controlling urges. The study aims to compare two treatments: Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) combined with the best medical treatment (BMT) versus BMT alone. DBS is a surgery where electrodes are placed in the brain to help control symptoms. Participants will be randomly assigned to either DBS+BMT or BMT only. Regular clinic visits are needed to monitor progress and complete questionnaires.

  • Study involves random assignment to one of two treatment groups.
  • Regular clinic visits and completing questionnaires are required.
  • Eligibility criteria include being under 70 and having specific PD and ICD symptoms.
