NYSCF Scientific Discovery Biobank

NYSCF Biobank: Researching new treatments through clinical trials.

Recruiting
30 years and older
All
Phase N/A

The New York Stem Cell Foundation (NYSCF) is doing research to learn more about how diseases work and to find new treatments. They use cells from your body, like skin or blood cells, to make stem cells, which can turn into any type of cell. This helps scientists study diseases that are hard to research otherwise. They also do genetic testing to study DNA, which is like a set of instructions inside our cells. If these instructions, called genes, are not correct, they can cause diseases.

To join the study, you would fill out a health questionnaire and give a small sample of your skin or blood, and maybe saliva, for testing. This study is not a clinical trial, meaning it doesn’t involve testing new medicines on patients.

  • Participants must be 30 days or older.
  • You'll need to give a skin, blood, or saliva sample.
  • People with certain diseases might need a legal representative to help them join.

If you join, your samples can help develop future treatments or cures for diseases. It’s important to follow safety rules and understand that some people might not be eligible to participate.

Learn more about clinical trials

What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a study designed to test specific interventions or treatments' effectiveness and safety, paving the way for new, innovative healthcare solutions.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?

Clinical trials follow strict ethical guidelines and protocols to safeguard participants' health. They are closely monitored and safety reviewed regularly.
