Parkinson's disease (PD) affects millions globally, causing walking problems for many, even with medication. This study explores if treadmill training can improve walking. Treadmill training involves walking on a moving belt, sometimes with added challenges or virtual reality experiences, to boost balance and reduce falls. Participants will undergo 12 treadmill training sessions, with check-ins before, after, and 8 to 12 weeks later. A phone app will also help patients practice at home. The app plays beats to guide walking speeds.
The main goal is to understand how the training helps and if improvements carry over into daily life. Researchers will study the brain and muscles using EEG (electroencephalogram, measures brain waves) and EMG (electromyogram, measures muscle activity) to see how walking stability improves. Not everyone may benefit the same, and this study aims to find out why.
- 12 treadmill training sessions and follow-up assessments.
- Home-based training app for additional practice.
- Research involves brain and muscle activity studies.
