The 10,000 Step Club is a walking program in Las Vegas for people with Parkinson's disease (PD) and their caregivers. Parkinson's disease is a brain disorder that affects movement. This program lasts for 6 months and aims to help participants walk more, meet others, and feel less lonely. Participants will join one of three walking groups that meet once a week in local parks. They will use Nordic walking poles, which are like ski poles, to help with balance and posture. Each participant will receive a step watch to track the number of steps they take each day, with a goal of reaching 10,000 steps daily. The program is free and open to those aged 30-85 who can walk on their own and have been diagnosed with PD by a neurologist.
- Program duration is 6 months and is free.
- Participants meet weekly in local parks and can join additional sessions.
- Step watches track progress, and incentives are provided for reaching goals.
