This study is about understanding Parkinson's disease better using technology at home. Participants will use smartphones and activity trackers (like a fitness watch) to measure speech and movement. They will also make some video and audio recordings at home. This helps researchers see how Parkinson's disease changes over time.
There are two groups: those newly referred for Parkinson's evaluation and those with a recent diagnosis. Participants will visit the University of Iowa once and wear an activity tracker for four weeks. After that, they will have a video call to repeat some tasks.
- Study Duration: 4 weeks wearing an activity tracker plus a one-year follow-up visit.
- Visits: One visit to the University of Iowa, one video call, and a follow-up visit after one year.
- Eligibility: New referrals or recent Parkinson's diagnosis, must speak English, and have a phone that supports the Fitbit app.
