Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration (FTLD) is a brain disorder that affects personality, behavior, and language. The ARTFL LEFFTDS Longitudinal Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration (ALLFTD) study aims to understand FTLD better. There are two parts to this study: a "longitudinal arm" and a "biofluid-focused arm." The longitudinal arm collects a lot of information about the participant's health each year, while the biofluid arm focuses on collecting samples like blood.

Participants can be from families with a history of FTLD or have the condition without any known family link. However, participants shouldn't have conditions like Alzheimer's or other serious illnesses that might confuse the results.

  • **Study Length:** Ongoing yearly visits for the longitudinal arm.
  • **Incentives:** Participation helps advance research but no mention of direct compensation.
  • **Eligibility:** Must not have other major brain issues or diseases like Alzheimer's.

More details can be found on the ALLFTD website.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?

Clinical trials follow strict ethical guidelines and protocols to safeguard participants' health. They are closely monitored and safety reviewed regularly.
