ENhancing Outcomes in Cognitive Impairment Through Use of Home Sleep ApNea Testing

Improving memory with sleep apnea test at home.

Phase N/A

In this study, we want to see if testing for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) at home is better than testing in a sleep lab for people with memory problems. OSA is when your breathing stops and starts during sleep, which can make memory and thinking problems worse. The study is important because the usual test, called in-laboratory polysomnography (iPSG), is hard for some people with memory issues. We want to see if home sleep apnea testing (HSAT), which is easier and cheaper, is a good alternative. We will look at how many people finish the tests, how much it costs, and if they feel better after using a breathing machine called CPAP.

  • The study lasts 6 months.
  • Participants may need help from a caregiver.
  • People with severe lung or heart problems can't join.

A clinical trial is a study designed to test specific interventions or treatments' effectiveness and safety, paving the way for new, innovative healthcare solutions.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?

Clinical trials follow strict ethical guidelines and protocols to safeguard participants' health. They are closely monitored and safety reviewed regularly.
