Pesticides and Parkinson's Disease
This study looks at how being around pesticides might affect the risk of getting Parkinson's Disease (PD). Parkinson's is a brain disorder that affects movement. Pesticides are chemicals used to kill pests on farms. We want to find out if people who are around these chemicals have a higher chance of showing early signs of PD. We will check urine for pesticide traces and look for early PD signs.
- This study involves filling out a questionnaire about pesticide exposure.
- 130 people exposed to pesticides and 130 not exposed will be randomly selected.
- Participants must be farmers who use pesticides or people without such exposure.
The study helps us understand how pesticide exposure might affect the brain. People who have significant neurological conditions or do not consent cannot join. The findings will help us learn more about how early brain changes occur due to pesticides.
