**Study on a New Blood Test for Early Parkinson's Disease Diagnosis**
Scientists are exploring a new way to detect Parkinson's disease (PD) early. PD is a serious brain disease affecting millions globally, leading to problems like shaking and stiffness. They found a mix of 6 substances, called metabolites, in the blood that change in PD patients. These substances include **acetoacetate**, **betaine**, **beta-hydroxybutyrate**, **creatine**, **pyruvate**, and **valine**. The study showed these changes can help tell PD patients apart from healthy people with about 82.6% accuracy.
The study, named BIOPARK, aims to check how this blood test works in people with advanced PD and those with a condition often confused with PD, called Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). The researchers will use a special technique called **Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)** to study the blood.
**Key Points:**
- **Study Duration**: Not specified, but involves multiple groups of patients.
- **Participation**: If you have early PD without treatment, advanced PD with treatment, or MSA, you might be eligible.
- **Exclusions**: Those with deep brain stimulation or other brain diseases, and certain protected groups.
