This study looks at how playing serious games at home helps people with Parkinson's Disease who have trouble walking and balancing. Parkinson's Disease is a brain disorder that causes shaking and difficulty with walking and balance. There are 80 participants, divided into two groups of 40 each. One group will add a special video game called TOAP RUN to their usual care for a year. They will play this game, which uses a Kinect® system, 2 to 3 times a week at home. Kinect® is a motion-sensing device that allows you to interact with the game using your body movements.
The study takes 12 months, and participants will be checked at the start, after 6 months, and at the end. The goal is to see if the game helps improve walking and balance and if it is cost-effective. The study will also look at how playing the game affects the brain for some participants.
- The study lasts for 12 months and requires regular game sessions at home.
- Participants will be in one of two groups: with or without the game.
- Regular check-ups will be conducted to track progress.
