Improving Prognostic Confidence in Neurodegenerative Diseases Causing Dementia Using Peripheral Biomarkers and Integrative Modeling

Studying biomarkers to better understand dementia outcomes.

All
Phase N/A

This study aims to predict how diseases that cause dementia, like Alzheimer's or Lewy Body Disease, progress over time. Scientists will use tests such as brain imaging (MRI), which takes pictures of the brain, and collect samples of blood and cerebrospinal fluid (the liquid around the brain and spine). They'll also ask questions about how well participants think and behave. The goal is to help doctors diagnose and predict the progression of these diseases better.

  • Participants should be between 30-95 years old and have early signs of memory problems or dementia.
  • A study partner who knows the participant well is needed for some of the assessments.
  • Participants will be checked to ensure they can complete the study tasks.

People who cannot do most of the tests, or whose symptoms are not due to neurodegeneration, will not be able to join. This decision is made by the lead investigator at each site.

FAQs

Learn more about clinical trials

What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a study designed to test specific interventions or treatments' effectiveness and safety, paving the way for new, innovative healthcare solutions.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?

Clinical trials follow strict ethical guidelines and protocols to safeguard participants' health. They are closely monitored and safety reviewed regularly.
