Investigating Neural Biomarkers for Gait in Parkinson's Patients

Studying brain signals to understand walking in Parkinson's patients.

Phase N/A

Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a brain condition that affects how people move. This study aims to learn more about how the brain works when people with PD move, like walking. Researchers hope to find clues in the brain's activity that might help create better treatments.

Participants will be asked to walk and do tasks like seated stepping while their brain activity is recorded using special tools. This helps scientists see how the brain controls movement in healthy people and those with PD. The study involves only one session, lasting about 2.5 hours.

Eligible participants include 30 healthy individuals and 30 people with PD. All must be over 18, agree to the study rules, and provide consent. PD participants should have specific movement problems and use certain devices for their condition.

  • Study Duration: 2.5-hour session.
  • Participants: 60 people (30 healthy, 30 with PD).
  • Recordings: Brain activity and movement patterns.

FAQs

Learn more about clinical trials

What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a study designed to test specific interventions or treatments' effectiveness and safety, paving the way for new, innovative healthcare solutions.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?

Clinical trials follow strict ethical guidelines and protocols to safeguard participants' health. They are closely monitored and safety reviewed regularly.
