Study Summary: This study explores how the gut bacteria (microbiome) might affect thinking problems in people with Parkinson's disease (PD). PD can cause issues beyond movement, like trouble thinking. Scientists believe that changes in gut bacteria, called *dysbiosis*, might be linked to these thinking problems. The goal is to see if the gut's bacteria make brain inflammation worse, which can harm thinking skills. The study involves looking at gut bacteria and brain inflammation in 100 people with PD. Key Points:
  • The study includes 100 participants with Parkinson’s Disease.
  • Participants cannot have used antibiotics recently or have certain health conditions.
  • This research might help find new ways to treat thinking issues in PD.
Eligibility: Only people with Parkinson's and no recent antibiotic use or specific health issues can join. The study may help find new treatments for thinking problems related to gut bacteria changes in PD.

Learn more about clinical trials

What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a study designed to test specific interventions or treatments' effectiveness and safety, paving the way for new, innovative healthcare solutions.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?
