60 years and older
All
Phase N/A

This study is looking at how people over 60 with Alzheimer's Disease (AD) or Parkinson's Disease (PD) relate to music. It will compare their musical engagement, which includes how they use, feel, and react to music, with healthy older adults. Participants will have a two-hour session with a neuropsychologist. This session includes an interview to see if they qualify, some questions to learn more about them, and tests to understand their brain functions. A family member will also help by filling out some forms.

Key Points:

  • The study involves a one-time 2-hour session.
  • Eligible participants are 60 years or older, speak French, and live at home with a relative.
  • Participants should not have other neurological or psychiatric disorders, and must be able to read and write.

This study helps understand how music can be used as therapy for people with AD and PD. It looks into how different brain functions affect musical enjoyment and emotional response. The study is important because it might help improve non-medication treatments for these diseases.
