The Luxembourg Parkinson's Study is a long-term research project to better understand Parkinson's disease (PD). PD is a brain disorder that affects movement and can cause shaking and stiffness. This study includes over 1,600 people, both with and without PD, from Luxembourg and nearby areas. It collects a lot of information, like medical tests and samples of blood and other body fluids, over many years. The data helps researchers learn more about PD and find better ways to diagnose and treat it. Participants are checked regularly, some every year, others every four years. The study uses an advanced digital platform to share information globally with other studies.

  • Participants must be at least 18 years old and able to give consent or have a guardian who can agree for them.
  • This study involves regular visits for data collection, which may include some invasive procedures like skin biopsy.
  • Participants cannot have active cancer, be pregnant, or refuse sample collection.
