Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Study for Parkinson's Disease (PD)

This study looks at how a treatment called Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) helps with memory issues in people with Parkinson's disease. DBS is a procedure where small electrical pulses are sent to the brain to help control symptoms. In this study, the focus is on understanding if DBS can improve memory problems by stimulating a part of the brain called the substantia nigra.

Participants will be aged 50-70 and have had PD for less than 20 years. The study will run from January 2024 to December 2026, involving about 60 patients. The safety and effectiveness of the treatment will be checked by measuring memory task performance and monitoring health indicators like blood pressure and heart rate.

  • Study lasts 3 years, from January 2024 to December 2026.
  • Participants will have brain stimulation tested during and after DBS surgery.
  • Free head MRI and fMRI scans are provided, with a travel subsidy of 400 yuan.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.
