TMS-related Measures as Biomarker of Cognitive Impairment in PD

TMS study to identify cognitive changes in Parkinson's disease.

Recruiting
18 years and older
All
Phase N/A

This study looks at using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) to find early signs of brain changes in people with Parkinson's disease (PD). TMS is a special test that uses magnets to check how the brain is working, especially in people with thinking problems called cognitive decline. The study will compare TMS results in people who have PD but think normally and those with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) or Dementia.

  • Study Length: 3 years with checks at the start, after 1 year, 2 years, and 3 years.
  • Eligibility: Participants must be over 18, have PD, and be stable on their PD medication for at least 4 weeks.
  • Risks/Exclusions: People with serious health issues, certain brain implants, or a history of seizures cannot join.

By joining, participants help researchers understand how TMS can be used to predict changes in thinking abilities in PD patients. This could lead to better treatments and care for those with PD in the future.
