EXoPERT EMERALD Clinical Study

Investigational Test for Early-Stage Lung, Ovarian, Breast, Pancreas, and Colorectal Cancers

Recruiting
45 years and older
All
Phase N/A

This study investigates the use of an investigational diagnostic test for early-stage lung, ovarian, breast, pancreas, and colorectal cancers. The purpose of this study is to analyze specific profiles of extracellular vesicles using a technique called surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) with the help of artificial intelligence.

The study focuses on evaluating the ability of this diagnostic system to provide information on the presence of these cancers by analyzing the Raman spectroscopic profiles extracted from human plasma. This method does not involve any surgical procedure and seeks to offer a non-invasive way to detect cancer.

  • Who can participate: Participants aged 45 years or older with suspected or confirmed lung, breast, colorectal, pancreatic, or ovarian cancer can join. They must not have had cancer treatment in the past 6 months.
  • Study details: Participants will provide blood samples for analysis using the investigational system. The study will compare the Raman spectroscopic profiles of extracellular vesicles to determine cancer presence.

FAQs

Learn more about clinical trials

What is a clinical trial?

A clinical trial is a study designed to test specific interventions or treatments' effectiveness and safety, paving the way for new, innovative healthcare solutions.

Why should I take part in a clinical trial?

Participating in a clinical trial provides early access to potentially effective treatments and directly contributes to the healthcare advancements that benefit us all.

How long does a clinical trial take place?

The duration of clinical trials varies. Some trials last weeks, some years, depending on the phase and intention of the trial.

Do I get compensated for taking part in clinical trials?

Compensation varies per trial. Some offer payment or reimbursement for time and travel, while others may not.

How safe are clinical trials?

Clinical trials follow strict ethical guidelines and protocols to safeguard participants' health. They are closely monitored and safety reviewed regularly.
