Phase 4

This study investigates the prevention of complications after pancreatoduodenectomy, a complex surgical procedure. The focus is on patients at high risk for postoperative pancreatic fistula, a common complication.

The study evaluates a combination of treatments, including hydrocortisone, octreotide, and a surgical patch, to reduce major complications. It assesses the effectiveness of these treatments in a combined approach.

  • Who can participate: Adults aged 18 and older undergoing elective pancreatoduodenectomy with a pancreatic duct diameter of 3mm or less are eligible. Participants must be able to safely receive hydrocortisone and octreotide.
  • Study details: Participants will receive either a combination of treatments or standard care. The combination includes hydrocortisone, octreotide, and a surgical patch. A placebo is not used in this study.
  • Study timelines: The study will last 90 days postoperatively.
