This study investigates pancreatic head cancer with severe obstructive jaundice. The purpose of this study is to explore how different drainage strategies affect patients before surgery.
The focus is on comparing a new drainage strategy using serum prealbumin levels with a traditional approach using serum total bilirubin. It evaluates the effects on complications and long-term outcomes.
- Who can participate: Adults aged 18 to 75 with pancreatic head cancer and severe obstructive jaundice may participate. Key eligibility includes a bilirubin level of at least 250μmol/L and no prior biliary drainage.
- Study details: Participants will undergo preoperative biliary drainage and radical surgery evaluation. Some may receive a placebo, which is an inactive substance that looks like the investigational medicine but does not contain any medicine.
