Recruiting
18-90 years
All
Phase N/A

This study investigates biliary diseases. This study compares two techniques used to access the bile duct: fistulotomy and guidewire cannulation. The focus is on understanding how these techniques perform in terms of success and safety when performed by endoscopists with different levels of experience.

This study evaluates the effectiveness and safety of two different methods for performing biliary cannulation. The study focuses on understanding the outcomes based on the experience level of the endoscopists, with the purpose of determining which technique has better success rates and fewer complications.

  • Who can participate: Participants are men and women aged 18 to 90 years undergoing ERCP for suspected or confirmed choledocholithiasis or biliary stenosis. Key exclusions include those with previous ERCP, specific anatomical changes, certain cancers, and pregnant women.
  • Study details: Participants will be randomly assigned to undergo one of two techniques for accessing the bile duct: fistulotomy or guidewire cannulation. A placebo is not used in this study.
  • Study timelines: The study will last from August 2019 to March 2020.
