Sickle cell disease (SCD) can cause problems with the lungs called pulmonary complications. To help with breathing, one option is using a device called an Inspiratory Muscle Trainer (IMT). This helps strengthen the muscles used for breathing. Another option is Acupuncture-like Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (AC-tens), which uses a gentle electric current to stimulate nerves through the skin and may also help improve breathing. In this study, 40 people with sickle cell disease will be divided into two groups. Group I will use both IMT and AC-tens, while Group II will use only IMT. Each week, participants will have three sessions for 12 weeks. An IMT session includes six sets of 10 breathing exercises, and an AC-tens session lasts 45 minutes.
- Study lasts 12 weeks with three sessions each week.
- Participants will be divided into two groups to test different treatments.
- Eligible participants must have sickle cell disease and not have certain other health issues.
