Phase 2
Study Overview: This research is checking if L-Citrulline, given through a vein (intravenous), helps with pain for kids and young adults (ages 4-21) who have sickle cell disease (a blood problem causing pain). When people with sickle cell have a lot of pain, they often need strong medicine in the hospital. This study will see if L-Citrulline can help make the pain go away faster. It compares L-Citrulline to a placebo (a fake treatment) to see if it really works. What's Involved:
  • Participants will get L-Citrulline for 16 hours in the hospital.
  • A follow-up visit happens about 30 days after leaving the hospital.
  • The study checks for any side effects and how much pain medicine is needed.
Key Points:
  • This study lasts about a month, including a hospital stay and a follow-up visit.
  • Participants must be 4-21 years old and have sickle cell disease.
  • They may receive a placebo instead of L-Citrulline.
This study wants to see if L-Citrulline helps with pain and if it's safe.
