Chronic Wounds and Ulcers Study is designed to understand more about long-lasting wounds and ulcers. It collects data from over 1,400 doctors in the USA and Puerto Rico. The information is gathered using a special electronic system called Electronic Health Record (EHR) or Electronic Data Capture (EDC). This data is sent daily to the U.S. Wound Registry, which is a special organization that keeps track of health data in a way approved by CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services).

The registry looks at different types of wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers, venous leg ulcers, and pressure ulcers. It studies how these wounds are treated and how they heal over time. The data helps in understanding how effective the treatments are and supports improvements in healthcare quality.

  • Study may last up to five years.
  • No specific exclusion criteria; all patients with chronic wounds can participate.
  • Information is gathered during regular doctor visits.
