This study investigates how an investigational medication works to improve small intestinal damage and reduce symptoms in people with celiac disease who are trying to maintain a gluten-free diet. Celiac disease is a condition where consuming gluten leads to damage in the small intestine. Participants in the study will be compared to those receiving a placebo, which is an inactive substance that looks like the investigational medication but does not contain any medicine.
Participants in the study will undergo certain procedures, including ingesting gluten-free and simulated inadvertent gluten exposure products. They will also have two upper gastrointestinal endoscopies with duodenal biopsies to assess the condition of their small intestine.
- Who can participate: Adults with a medically diagnosed history of celiac disease and ongoing intestinal damage may participate. Participants must have experienced gluten-related symptoms recently and be willing to undergo specific study procedures.
- Study details: Participants will consume gluten-free and simulated gluten exposure products as part of the study.
