Study Overview: This study is looking at how often children have signs of Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and celiac disease. These are conditions where the body mistakenly attacks itself, known as autoimmune diseases. The study checks for these signs, called autoantibodies, during regular doctor visits. It's important because finding these early can help keep kids healthier in the long run.
Who Can Join: The study is for babies and kids who get their regular check-ups at Sanford clinics. Babies born at Sanford hospitals, kids under 6, and older kids between 9 and 16 can join. Also, siblings of children with diabetes signs can participate if they get care at Sanford. Parents need to agree and sign a form called informed consent (IC).
Key Points:
- Children will have blood tests at certain ages: birth, 1, 2, and 5 years, or once between ages 9 and 16.
- No treatment is given in this study, but kids with signs may join other trials or get more medical help.
- Participants need an active MyChart account for health records.
