This study investigates the use of hydroxyapatite-based oral care products to treat dentin sensitivity in adults with celiac disease. Celiac disease is a condition where eating gluten leads to damage in the small intestine. The study involves patients who have enamel demineralization and dentin hypersensitivity. Participants are divided into two study arms: one using a hydroxyapatite-based toothpaste and the other using both the toothpaste and a hydroxyapatite mousse.
Participants will perform home oral hygiene routines, with the trial group applying the hydroxyapatite mousse in addition to the toothpaste. The study will measure changes in dentin hypersensitivity, plaque, gingival bleeding, pain perception, and caries experience. Enamel demineralization will be assessed using advanced imaging techniques. Evaluations will be conducted at several intervals during the study.
- Who can participate: Adults aged 18 and older with diagnosed celiac disease and enamel defects can participate. They must have self-reported dentin hypersensitivity and be willing to follow the study protocol. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals and those in other trials are excluded.
- Study details: Participants will use a hydroxyapatite-based toothpaste twice daily. The trial group will also apply a hydroxyapatite mousse once daily. The study will assess the effects on dentin sensitivity and enamel integrity.
