Phase 2

This study looks at how well a new medicine, **MK-8690**, works for people with ulcerative colitis (UC), a disease that causes swelling in the colon, also known as the large intestine. Participants should have had UC symptoms for at least 3 months and show moderate to severe symptoms. The study will compare MK-8690 to a placebo, a pill with no medicine, to see which helps more people feel better by week 12.

Eligibility:

Participants must weigh 40 kg (about 88 pounds) or more and have shown they do not respond well to other UC treatments. Those with other bowel diseases, certain infections, or who have had specific surgeries cannot join.

Key Points:

  • The study lasts 12 weeks.
  • Participants must have had UC for at least 3 months.
  • Some people may not be able to participate if they have other health conditions.
