Phase 2

This study is for adults aged 18-74 with a *Body Mass Index (BMI)* of 30 or more, or at least 27 with a weight-related health issue. BMI is a number calculated from your weight and height. This study tests if the medicine BI 3034701 helps people lose weight. It lasts about 10 months with 15 visits to the study site. There are 7 groups, with 6 groups receiving different doses of BI 3034701, and 1 group receiving a placebo (a substance with no therapeutic effect). Participants have over an 80% chance of receiving BI 3034701. Injections are given under the skin for 42 weeks, along with diet and exercise counseling. People with type 2 diabetes cannot join. Doctors will check weight and take lab tests regularly. Participants will also keep a diary of their food and exercise. The study will compare results to see if the medicine helps. Potential side effects will be monitored.

  • Participants are in the study for about 10 months, with 15 visits required.
  • More than 80% chance to receive the actual medicine.
  • Injections and lifestyle changes are part of the study.
