Phase 3

This study is about using dental wipes with xylitol to help kids with a type of cancer called acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Xylitol is a natural sugar found in fruits and veggies that stops bacteria in the mouth. Kids with AML get powerful medicine called chemotherapy to treat cancer, which can lead to infections if bacteria get into their blood from the mouth. The study tests if xylitol wipes can reduce these infections compared to wipes without xylitol.

Key Points:

  • The study lasts for two chemotherapy cycles, with each cycle using wipes for up to 30 days.
  • Participants are randomly assigned to use either xylitol or non-xylitol wipes.
  • Participants must be between 1 and 25 years old and undergoing chemotherapy for AML.

Participants must not use other xylitol products during the study and need to have at least one visible tooth. The study requires signed consent from parents or guardians and follows all health regulations.
