Exploring TMS effects on anxiety in Parkinson's patients through a trial.

Enrolling By Invitation
40-90 years
All
Phase N/A

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a brain disorder affecting movement. Many people with PD also experience anxiety, a feeling of worry or fear. This study looks at using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), a treatment using magnetic fields to stimulate the brain, to help with anxiety in PD. TMS has been shown to help with general anxiety, but not much is known about its effects on PD-related anxiety. The study will focus on an area of the brain called Area 8Av, which is linked to mood disorders and can be reached by TMS.

  • Participants must have PD and anxiety, be 40 to 90 years old, and speak English.
  • The study involves maintaining stable medication doses and providing written consent.
  • People with certain health conditions or recent medication changes are not eligible.
