This study checks if a new medicine, EL219, is safe and works well compared to two other medicines, liposomal amphotericin B (LAmB) and voriconazole, for treating serious mold infections. A Phase 2 study is a research step to see if a treatment works and is safe. It is also double-blind, meaning neither the participants nor the researchers know who gets which treatment, to ensure fairness.
To join, participants must be 18 or older, at risk for fungal infections due to a weak immune system, and have a suspected or confirmed mold infection. They must follow the study schedule and procedures, and women must use birth control.
- The study involves hospital visits and tests to check health and progress.
- Participants cannot have taken certain antifungal treatments for more than 96 hours before joining.
- Participants should not have serious liver, heart, or lung issues.
This study could offer a new way to treat mold infections, but it has some risks and needs commitment to attending study visits. If you're considering joining, check if you meet the criteria and discuss with your doctor.
